At first glance, the town of False Pines, in Idaho, is an ordinary American town. Secret Service agent Ethan Burke arrives there in search of two missing colleagues, but soon finds himself in a completely unexpected situation. Having found himself in the hospital after a terrible accident, Ethan comes to his senses without an ID card or a phone. The medical staff is quite polite, but there is definitely something... wrong here.
Days pass, but the search for his colleagues brings Ethan more questions than answers. Why can't he get in touch with his family? Why doesn't anyone believe that Ethan is a federal agent? And why are the electric fences surrounding the town needed? To keep the residents within the boundaries of False Pines? Or to protect them from someone outside the city?
Each step towards the truth takes Ethan further away from the familiar world, until he comes to a terrifying realization: he may never make it out of the Fallen Pines alive...
