Oscar Wilde's only novel "The Picture of Dorian Gray" brought the author a smashing success and stirred the society of that time. In the preface to the novel, Wilde wrote: "There are no moral or immoral books. There are well-written books and poorly written books." The main character is a young man endowed with incredible beauty. Realizing that one day his beauty would fade, Dorian wished to chain his soul to a picture with his portrait, so that the picture would age and he would remain forever young. Dorian's wish is granted, which eventually leads him to an immoral life. Since then, not a single wrinkle appeared on his eternally young face, although he lived in vice and debauchery, and the portrait grew old and died. But everything has its price.
