This book is a Ukrainian translation of a collection of lectures entitled “The Religion of Man,” delivered by Rabindranath Tagore with the support of the Hibbert Foundation at Manchester College, Oxford University, England, in May 1930. A world-renowned philosopher, playwright, and poet, Rabindranath Tagore addresses the largely universal themes of God, divine experience, enlightenment, and spirituality. In his “The Religion of Man,” Tagore sought to present a philosophy of man in which human nature is characterized by the concept of an excess of energy that finds expression in creative art. In his lectures, Tagore emphasizes the importance of “yoga” (which in Sanskrit means “union”), in particular the unity of the peoples of India against foreign imperial rule, and asserts the idea of the value of human freedom and dignity. The ideas he presented were the culmination of his many years of work.
