During his short life, the Ukrainian poet of the sixties Vasyl Andriiovych Symonenko (1935–1963) wrote little, but his creative achievements are complete, his poetry is profound, multifaceted, requiring rethinking and new poetic justification and study. Today, some of the poet's works are especially striking in their relevance, and they have become the tuning fork of this collection of selected poems. Vasyl Symonenko's voice sounds today as strongly, convincingly, brightly as it did during his lifetime: "Ukraine, you are my prayer, You are my age-old despair... A fierce battle thunders over the world. For your life, your rights...".
