Miranda is 8 years old, she loves soap bubbles and birds that fit in the palm of her hand. But more than anything in the world, she likes to listen to all kinds of stories, especially if they are real. Miranda and her family will attend Grandma Kohn's golden wedding this time. Still, Grandma Leo (Grandma Kohn's younger sister) says that under no circumstances will this "iron junk with wings" (that's what the old lady calls the plane) get into this one. Miranda is not afraid to fly at all, and Leo's grandmother says she is as brave as Amelia Earhart, who flew among the stars.
Amelia Earhart was a very brave American who lived at the beginning of the 20th century and became famous for becoming the first female pilot to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. Even as a child, she wanted to be the first in everything, and so it was throughout her life - in search of increasingly complex challenges.
