This book is a social satire about race, the events of which take place in three countries: Nigeria, the United States, and England. Teenagers Ifemelu and Obinze study in Nigeria and have known since high school that their love will last forever. Due to university strikes, they are forced to leave the country and go to the West, but their paths diverge. The girl goes to the States, where she studies at an American university and starts blogging about racial problems in America, while the boy becomes an illegal immigrant in England. How will their life stories unfold further, and will they have the opportunity to meet again? This is an incredibly insightful story about the power of love, Africa and the life of the African diaspora in the US and England.
