A crystal cork from a decanter - the most ordinary cork - is being hunted. It is not only Arsene Lupin, known as the "noble robber", who is hunting for it, but also a mysterious lady with a child and, in the end, many dignitaries of the Third Republic.
It is noticeable that the owner of the precious cork is not hiding - he is always in plain sight, but the goal, as before, is unattainable. What kind of secret is hidden in this cork and will Arsene Lupin, who knows no defeat, be able to take possession of it?..
Another action-packed story from Maurice Leblanc resembles a dense weave of riddles and secrets that readers are eager to unravel along with the heroes. And it is not surprising, because the author is a true master of avoiding direct answers and hiding the whole picture of events in a bizarre cloak of hints and nuances, and the main character himself is too whimsical... and just as no one knows Lupin's true face, getting lost in the features of all sorts of representatives of the higher and lower world, so until the end of the book the reader often has no idea how it will end and what the crown of the intrigue is.
"The Crystal Cork" (1912) will also not leave anyone indifferent, creating a world in which a demanding reader, and not only detectives, is ready to look for the light at the end of a long tunnel...
