The novel "Barchester Towers" is the second - the most important - part of the cycle "Barsetshire Chronicles" by the classic of English literature of the Victorian era Anthony Trollope.
As in the first, in the second part the events take place in the same fictional county of Barsetshire with the main city of Barchester, which the writer invented. However, new, no less interesting and charismatic characters are added to the characters already known to the reader from the first part of the work.
At first glance, the title seems to promise something gloomy, too serious, a depiction of only some clerical problems. In fact, the plot of the novel is quite lively, dynamic, sometimes tense, full of surprises. The reader is waiting for the author's unique humor, small and large intrigues, love with obstacles, the difficult temperaments of representatives of different strata of the then English society, and finally - the atmosphere of the era itself. In short, a whirlpool of life. Such classics are always relevant and never become outdated.
Without a doubt, the novel will certainly appeal to lovers of true and refined fine writing.
