“Despite all the challenges we face, we must remember: there is hope if there is action,” said Sanna Marin, the former prime minister of Finland, in her memoirs, which she wrote about her remarkable four years in office, during which she led an all-female coalition government, guided her country’s accession to NATO, and passed legislation on climate change and social justice.
Marin was only 34 when she was elected in 2019 to a center-left coalition that made history as the only one led by a woman. She gained international fame for her opposition to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and for Finland’s rapid accession to NATO, ending a policy of neutrality that had been in place since the end of World War II.
Sanna Marin is a member of the Supervisory Board of the Yalta European Strategy (YES) Forum. In 2022, Sanna Marin was one of the first world leaders to visit Ukraine, including Bucha and Irpin.
