After the last American troops leave Vietnam, brothers Minh and Thanh and sister Anh set off for Hong Kong, promising that they will soon be reunited with their parents and younger siblings. But tragedy strikes and the three children become orphans. Sixteen-year-old Anh is forced to take responsibility for her younger siblings overnight. In the following years, Anh and her brothers immigrate to the UK: life in overcrowded camps and resettlement centers, and later in London, where social inequality reigns. Anh works in a factory to pay the bills. Minh wanders the streets with his classmates who have dropped out of school. And the youngest, Thanh, plays football with his friends after school. As they grow up, the brothers and sister learn what it's like to live with the guilt of having survived. Each choice pushes them further apart, until the only thing that can unite them is love. “Wandering Souls” is a lyrical narrative based on historical sources that gives back voices to the lost and the disenfranchised. This is a striking debut from Cecile Pin.— it is a lyrical narrative based on historical sources that gives back voices to the lost and the disenfranchised. This is a striking debut from Cecile Pin.
