"Prodigal Meteor" is one of the few decadent examples in the work of Natalya Kobrynska, a writer, public figure, a consistent fighter for women's rights and the founder of the women's movement in Ukraine, in modern language - feminism. With the depth of her views and the scope of her worldview, Kobrynska was so much ahead of her time that she was incomprehensible to many of her contemporaries, and is still partly unread and incomprehensible.
However, the themes of her work are eternal and always relevant: how a woman can survive in the shadows of a patriarchal society; how to remain oneself and not pay attention to human superstitions; how to live life with dignity despite any turbulence and incompetence, to protect and nurture children so that they become worthy of the ideals that their parents professed.
N. Kobrynska deftly portrayed the challenge of the break of the era, the hardships of the times and the events of the First World War in the cycle "War Novels", which also reflect the current times of trouble and respond with the memory of a stable and measured life.
N. Kobrynska masterfully embodied the sincere truth of everyday and basic life values in the finalization of the texts that we present in the publication "The Stray Meteor" - perhaps the first significant selection of the writer's works since the independence of Ukraine.
