The third book in the series "Essays on the Economic History of Ukraine" highlights the processes that took place in economic life on Ukrainian lands in the period between the middle of the 17th century and the last decades of the 18th century. Attention is focused on the features of economic transformations and differences in the economic development of various Ukrainian historical and cultural regions. The processes of economic development are considered in connection with other spheres of life and in the general European context. A brief description of the key moments of the socio-economic and political history of European civilization in the middle of the 17th - second half of the 18th century is given. The fact of the acceleration of the development of the economic complex of the Hetmanate and partly of the Slobozhanshchyna starting from the middle of the 17th century is substantiated, and then its return to the framework of the extensive feudal type, largely due to the policy of neighboring states - a trend that constantly grew during the 18th century. The material is presented in a popular scientific form, which makes it especially suitable for perception by both students and a wide range of people interested in new developments in the field of Ukrainian history.
