In her debut novel, Genevieve Gornyczek reimagines Norse mythology and a dramatic love story.
The story of the witch Angrboda begins where most witch tales end: with burning as punishment by Odin for refusing to reveal the knowledge of the future. The fire deprives Angrboda of the power of prophecy, but does not destroy her heart. She flees and hides in the most remote corners of the forest. She is found by the trickster Loki, and a fire of passion flares between them. From the union of Loki and Angrboda are born three strange children, each of whom has a secret destiny and mission. Angrboda seeks to hide them safely from Odin's omnipresent eye.
But when the witch regains her gift of prophecy, she learns that the lives of her children are in danger. Angrboda must choose: whether to accept the fate she has foreshadowed for her children, or to take the path of resistance to save their future...
