Fourteen-year-old Mona is a witch. However, unlike the magicians who protect the city, she does not throw fireballs or summon lightning. Her only skill is to control dough and pastries, and the girl’s familiar is a sourdough starter named Bob. Magic helps her bake the best bread and buns and entertain customers with gingerbread man dances. But one morning, the young baker finds a dead stranger on the kitchen floor - and problems begin to grow like yeast... The city is threatened by an attack from enemies, and a mysterious killer roams its streets, hunting for magicians. Like Mona. So maybe her magical abilities are not so small and unimportant?
