In this book, based on rich source material, Leonid Ushkalov presents a biography of the Ukrainian publicist, scientist, and public figure Mykhailo Dragomanov (1841–1895).
The author symbolically divided the biography into fifty-four paragraphs and tried, in his own words, “to the extent possible, to show Dragomanov’s life not in black and white, but in color, as our life really is.” “Without anger and passion,” he tells about the everyday life of his hero and tries to penetrate the world of his ideas.
However, the author is convinced that the “main plot” of Dragomanov’s life can be imagined in different ways.
