Description

Wilhelm von Habsburg was an archduke, a relative of the Austrian emperor, who chose Ukrainian identity and became the legendary Colonel Vasyl Vyshyvanyi, the Red Prince, who fought for the independence of Ukraine during the First and Second World Wars.

He was attracted by the heroic pages of Ukrainian history, the struggle of Ukrainians for statehood. Until his death behind the walls of the Lukianivska prison in Kyiv in the summer of 1948, he did not lose hope of occupying the monarchical throne in the restored Ukrainian State. He looked for allies in Poland, Austria, France, and even in Nazi Germany, but, in the end, was disappointed in all of them.

Who was this strange man who changed his identity and decided to fight for someone else's statehood? What would the history of our state have been like if his dream had come true?
