You, the one who will come after me to write these Annals, must already understand that I do not dare to reveal the whole truth about our band of scoundrels. They are known to be cruel, aggressive and ignorant. They are complete savages, embodying their most disgusting fantasies, and their behavior is calmed only by the presence of a few decent men. I do not show this side too often, because they are my brothers, my family, and I was taught not to speak ill of my kin.

Some believe that the Lady, newly awakened from centuries of oblivion, stands between humanity and evil. Some believe that she herself is evil. The mercenaries of the Black Company go to the Lady's service, they take their pay and do what they must, hiding their doubts with the dead. There is a prophecy that somewhere the White Rose has been reborn to embody good again. What role does the Black Company play in this confrontation? Will the mercenaries be able to survive this bloody battle of evil against good?
