The Black Butterfly: A Romantic Tale from the 18th Century

The first novel in the Georgian (during the reign of the Hanoverian dynasty in Great Britain, 1714?1837) cycle by the famous British writer Georgette Heyer (1902–1974). Lord John Carstairs, unjustly accused of fraud, is forced to leave England. Deprived of the means of survival, he finds solace and a way out of his problems in gambling and robbery, which often resembles the story of the legendary Robin Hood. He continues to practice this craft even after his illegal return to his homeland. But his life takes a sharp turn when he becomes an obstacle to the notorious "Devil" - the Duke of Andover, rescuing the charming Miss Diana Bowley from his hands.
