Description

Sofiia Yablonska is a writer and photographer, author of the books “The Charm of Morocco”, “From the Land of Ginger and Opium” and “Distant Horizons”.
The daughter of a priest, she became the first Ukrainian travel blogger and described her travels in books. At a very young age, she went to Paris, where she first tried herself as an actress, and later began to master photography and the profession of a cinematographer. And after the French capital, there were China and Bali, Java and New Zealand. Sofiia herself explored the most secluded streets of Asian cities and got with her camera to places that are not so easy for an ordinary tourist to see. She spent the night alone in the middle of a deserted road, went deep into the slums of neighborhoods and almost died, picking a flower in which a poisonous viper was hiding.

“Distant Horizons” describes the photographer’s journey around the world. The woman describes places and cultures on the edge of the world, recording how entire peoples disappear before her eyes, forgetting their own language, and depicting what they were like before the arrival of the colonialists.
