Description

“De-occupied: Stories of Ukrainian Resistance” is an English translation of a collection of reports about trips to the deoccupied territories of Ukraine in April-November 2022.

The words “occupation” and “de-occupation” became relevant in 2014, when Russia occupied Crimea, and fully sounded in February 2022, when the occupiers launched a full-scale invasion.

In the months after the liberation of Bucha, Irpin, Izyum, Kupyansk, Kherson and other settlements, the Ukraїner team collected stories that capture the tragedy of the occupation and the experience of Ukrainian resistance. The main thing in the reports is the voice and lived experience of the heroes with whom the author spoke, as well as a sequential presentation of events (the book’s content is built according to the chronology of how the Defense Forces liberated the regions occupied by the Russians).

Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine is still ongoing, and part of Ukrainian lands are still awaiting de-occupation. This book can be an important testimony that will help foreign audiences understand the reality of the war, Russian occupation, and Ukrainian resistance.
