Fiona, Sue Partly and Daisy, three pensioners who volunteer at the charity shop for the Stray Dogs, cannot believe that their regular customer is dead. Eighty-six-year-old Sarah Brown is found murdered in the hallway of her house, with a domino with her name scratched into it in her hand.
When a domino is also found in the hand of another victim, and the police cannot piece together all the evidence, the women from the charity shop take it upon themselves to expose a serial killer. And although the arrogant Sophie from the Cat Club is constantly mixing up the cards, Fiona's shaggy terrier can help her.
A small English town is terrified, because until now it has been cozy and even boring here. So three amateur detectives get down to business, and in between tea parties and cake treats, they formulate their own hypotheses and conduct an independent investigation into a series of murders. Some of them even end up in the crosshairs of the criminal.
