The work's author is a young emancipated Scotswoman who sets out on her own to get to know the inhabitants of a distant land - Galicia. In the summer of 1890, she made a horseback crossing through the Hutsul Region and Pokuttia, passed through Montenegro, visited Kolomyia, Deliatyn, Kosov, Kosmach, Zhabye, and passed through Lviv.
The traveler incredibly sincerely describes the impressions of what she saw, draws philosophical conclusions, and encourages us to think about what we gain and lose with the development of civilization.
It translated into Ukrainian for the first time.
