"Cases" are stories, interludes, semi-anecdotes or special cases, memories or reflections, where history, art and a little humor are combined. They are recorded from the words of Dmytro Omelyanovich Gorbachev - a researcher, discoverer and popularizer of the Ukrainian avant-garde in love with Ukrainian culture and art. It was he who, in the early 1960s, had to deploy the "special fund" of the National Art Museum of Ukraine, of which he was the main custodian. Since then, Gorbachev devoted his life to the preservation, study and popularization of an almost lost page of Ukrainian art. This book collects evidence about how the study of the Ukrainian avant-garde began, how it was possible to deceive the Soviet censors with all the truths and lies and exhibit prohibited works, what was the life of museums in Soviet times, as well as Gorbachev's memories of meetings with artists. Everything falls into his field of vision - from the mosaic of Kyivan Rus to the lyrics of the Hadyukin Brothers.
