The Ramsay family with eight children spends summer vacations on the rocky coast of Scotland. Numerous guests visit here with them - artists, students and university teachers. The days pass slowly with games, reading, cozy dinners, conversations about the meaning of life and walks in picturesque places. And Mrs. Ramsay's youngest son James dreams of a trip to the Lighthouse, which dreams among the waves, beckons, catches the eye.
At first glance - no significant events, but in reality everything happens in thoughts. It is there that experiences, disputes, discussions, doubts rage. They do not talk about this out loud, except in their own minds. And the real drama of life unfolds before us...
