The book tells about addictions to the release of dopamine: why they arise, what they are, what their mechanism of action is and how to get rid of them. The author - on the basis of real cases of people who come to her for therapy and theoretical knowledge - justifies why it is so easy for modern people to become addicted to something. The main idea promoted by the book is that the increase in dopamine levels from a highly pleasurable habit is simply an escape from pain. Therefore, one of her advices is not to be afraid of pain, get used to it, change your attitude towards it, and not fall into a vortex of pleasure. However, it is more difficult for a modern person to do this: we are all addicted, some to games on the phone, some to sex, some to drugs, and some to drugs that should help us and without which adequate functioning is impossible.
