Faces of War is a photo book by Oleksandr Chekmenev that documents the aftermath of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The publication consists of two parts. The first part includes 24 portraits of Kyiv residents published in The New York Times Magazine at the beginning of the war in 2022. The second part of the book consists of 53 portraits of people who survived the occupation. Their stories are evidence of war crimes committed by the Russian invaders against the civilian population of Ukraine.
The publication was made possible with the support of MOKSOP.
