Marcus Tullius Cicero (106–43 BC) was an outstanding Roman orator, philosopher, and politician. His legacy consists of public speeches, oratory, philosophical treatises, poetic works, and private letters. In his philosophical treatises Philippics and Cato the Elder, or On Old Age, Cicero raises important socio-political and philosophical issues of his time that have not lost their relevance to this day. In Ukraine, the Roman writer's treatise Philippics is being published in a separate edition for the first time.
