Candidate of Art History, writer Oleksandra Shutko is the author of the studies “Roksolana: Myths and Realities”, “Women's Sultanate: Power and Love”, “Roksolana: Biography”, as well as trilogy novels about the Ukrainian sultan Roksolana, Hatice Turhan, Meleksim, the dilogy “Bloody Kafa” and the historical detective about Shekhsuvar (Maria) “Murder in the Harem”.
This book tells about the love stories of not only the greatest women of the Ottoman sultans during the era of the “Women's Sultanate”: Roksolana, Mihrimah, Nurbanu, Safiye, Kösem and Hatice Turhan, but also of the lesser-known inhabitants of the harem: Mahidevran, Gulfem, Hubbi, Handan, Halime and Mahfiruz.
The material is presented on the basis of Turkish, Polish, Ukrainian, Russian, Western European and American studies. The texts of letters from the harem and information from archival documents are provided in the author's translation from Ottoman Turkish.
