The God-Emperor of Dune, Leto Atreides, is dead. In the fifteen thousand years since his death, only ruins have remained of the Empire. The Great Dispersion caused billions of people to leave their homes and travel beyond the known space. The planet Arrakis was given a new name, Rakis, and returned to its former desert nature, and its giant sandworms began to gradually die out. Now the Lost return home with hopes of gaining power. And while the factions fight for control of the remnants of the empire, a girl named Shiana spreads religious ideas and becomes famous on Rakis. The girl has the abilities of the Freemen and fulfills the prophecy of the late God Emperor.
