Heroes

Stephen Fry (born 1957) is a British comedian who also writes scripts, novels, and short stories. He is a representative of English humor, and many of the works of this multifaceted personality have become bestsellers. Fry is also fascinated by ancient Greek culture and mythology, and has even created a whole ancient literary cycle.

“Heroes” is the author’s second book in this cycle. In it, he tells about the heroes of Ancient Greece and their exploits. He brilliantly retells the dramatic stories of Jason and Hercules, Perseus and Orpheus, Oedipus and Bellerophon. Riddles, chases, battles, incredible puzzles, murders, and amazing rescues. The reader has the opportunity to plunge into the fascinating world of adventures from ancient times. And although many people have read Greek myths in school, in Fry's version, the heroes of antiquity appear as ordinary people, with contradictory natures, comic, tragic, romantic and cruel.
