The book “Playing Under Fire. Stories, Work, Observations, Thoughts of Ukrainian Psychoanalytic Child Therapists During the War” is the result of the joint work of the participants of the two-year (2022–2024) seminar of Ukrainian child psychoanalytic therapists “Playing Under Fire” under the guidance of experienced psychoanalyst Anna Kravtsova.
Thirteen essays, differing in mood, focus, literary style, and theoretical approach, represent the experience, reflection, analysis, and vivid examples of children’s therapies that took place and are currently ongoing offline and online in Ukraine and abroad in the context of the country’s unyielding resistance to the military aggression of the Russian Federation.
The collection includes works by psychologists and psychotherapists who prefer a psychoanalytic approach in their practice, but it is intended for a wide range of readers, especially those who in one way or another care for children and communicate with them: give birth, raise, teach, treat, befriend, help, and simply live nearby.
