"Hutsul Embroidery of the Carpathians. The Art of Geometric Ornament and Color" is the sixth art album from the series "Embroidery of the Galician Carpathians", which is dedicated to the Hutsul embroidery of the Verkhovyna district of the late 19th - first half of the 20th century.
The album consists of three parts: general, special and appendices.
The general part provides geographical information about the Hutsul region and the origin of the embroidery patterns presented in the album.
The special part of the album provides patterns of folk embroidery of shirts in the lowland technique from the village of Pidobich, Verkhovyna township, etc. The album is illustrated with tables with the author's embroidery patterns and photographs of authentic embroidery patterns and types of Hutsuls in traditional clothing with embroidery on shirts that correspond to the patterns in the tables. Under the heading "Geography of Ornament" there are photographs of some embroidery patterns that existed outside the region.
The art album contains 31 tables and 109 color and black-and-white photo illustrations.
The appendices include a bibliography, a list of Hutsul sources, abbreviations, methodological recommendations for students, a geographical index, six photographs of the first covers of published albums about "Hutsul Embroideries of the Carpathians", acknowledgements, a biography of the author and contents.
The album is intended for ethnographers, art historians, Ukrainian scholars, local historians, artists, museum researchers, embroidery teachers, their students and schoolchildren, collectors of authentic embroidery and traditional clothing, leaders of folklore and ethnographic groups, tourists, as a useful and beautiful souvenir, as well as a wide range of embroidery lovers.
To better familiarize readers with the territories of Verkhovyna, a map of the corresponding district of the Hutsul region is provided at the beginning of the album.
