Description

The psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) had an unprecedented impact on the intellectual development of the entire 20th century. A brilliant inventor and scientist to some and a shameless slanderer of humanity to others, Freud all his life with the perseverance and thoroughness of a classical scientist moved towards his great goal - to make man more understandable to himself, even if this means ruthlessly destroying his many illusions and stepping over established social norms values and taboos.

Critics of psychoanalysis, of which there has never been a shortage, often forget that from the very beginning of his career Sigmund Freud was first and foremost a practicing physician who built his theories on a solid basis of real clinical cases and saw his task as alleviating the suffering of his patients by helping they get rid of pathological symptoms and phobias.

The proposed edition contains three of the most famous "disease stories" described by Freud, which allow the reader to look behind the scenes of psychoanalysis and directly immerse himself in the "work of interpretation" from which more generalized postulates of psychoanalytic teaching later emerged.
