Description

The novel, written by a well-known pianist and music popularizer in Spain, tells not only about music and musicians. This is a book about the history of Europe and human destinies for more than a century. The story covers both World Wars, makes time digressions into the history of previous centuries and European music, in particular, and the narrator himself is our contemporary, who also experienced problems due to the Covid epidemic. The geographical space is as wide as possible: from Western Europe, through Poland and all the way to British India. And all this is united by the dramatic but happy fate of the piano, which during this turbulent time had several owners before it fell into the hands of the narrator in a fairy tale way. It is precisely in a fairy tale, because the events are very organically connected by the through-going image of a mysterious tuner, who looks like a gnome from the Polish primeval forest.
