Bertrand Russell (1872–1970) is a famous English philosopher, mathematician and public figure, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature. To this list we can add: a great educator and free thinker, because it is not for nothing that he is often called the Voltaire of the 20th century. It was these talents of Russell that were best manifested in the all-time bestseller History of Western Philosophy. In any case, to this day it is one of the few publications that can interest the reader, of course, educated, but not related to philosophy. According to the no less famous writer Jorge Luis Borges, with this book, among five others, he would not be bored even on the moon. The pages of the study present the history of Western philosophy from its birth in Hellenic antiquity to the last century in a popular form. And it differs from traditional histories of philosophy primarily in that the author does not humbly bow his head to his great predecessors. Because he himself has considerable weight in the history of philosophy, so he talks with them on an equal footing.
