Description

"Ivan and Feba" is a novel by Oksana Lutsyshyna, set in the last years of Soviet rule and the first years of Ukrainian Independence.
After studying in Lviv and participating in the Revolution on Granite, Ivan returns to his native Uzhhorod, where he marries the poetess Mariia, who calls herself Feba.
Lviv and Kyiv are cities with a turbulent political life, while Uzhhorod is distinguished by a somewhat grotesque atmosphere of a patriarchal family system and early capitalism in Ukrainian. Here it is easy to do without special effects from a horror or thriller: the very reality of everyday life suggests moves that can compete in tension with the works of King or Kusturica.
