Kharkiv is a hero city. From the first minutes of the full-scale invasion of the Russian army into Ukraine, Kharkiv residents rallied and mobilized all their forces to defend the city. Kharkiv is, first of all, people who fight, work, and do not lose hope.
For the third year, the city has been living in conditions of war, constant shelling, destruction, and blackouts. Almost 30% of the housing stock has been damaged. But transport, pharmacies, supermarkets, markets, and some businesses are operating; despite problems with water and electricity, garbage is being taken out, and the city is being greened and cleaned up.
The challenges that arose from the first days of the war for Kharkiv residents, the regional and city administration, law enforcement agencies, rescuers, firefighters, and volunteers are recalled by direct participants in the events — the heroes of the book.
