Temples of fun

1926. London has become the center of the new, turbulent nightlife of post-war Britain. In the clubs of Soho, peris mingle with starlets, foreign officials with gangsters, and girls sell dances for a shilling.

The infamous queen of this glittering world is Nellie Cocker. She is ruthless, but at the same time ambitious enough to give the best to her six children, including the mysterious firstborn Niven, whose character was forged in the crucible of the Somme. But success breeds enemies, and Nellie's empire faces internal and external threats. For beneath the dazzling gaiety of Soho lies a dark underbelly, a world in which it is all too easy to get lost.
