Bookworms

"Bookworms" is a dark fantasy, a black thriller, a magical story about escape, rescue, adventure, fanatical devotion to a mother, strange love.

On the Yorkshire moors lives a secret caste of strange people, the six old Families of Bookoids. Books are food for them: a spy thriller is a spicy appetizer, a romance is a savory dessert, and eating a map can help you remember destinations, routes and places of interest. When their children misbehave, they are forced to eat dry, musty pages from dictionaries. Everything that a bookworm eats, settles in him with a load of knowledge.

The main character, Devon, is part of such a strange Family, an old and reclusive clan of book-eaters. Devon gives birth to a son with a rare, dark kind of hunger—not for books, but for human consciousness. Devon has to save him so he doesn't lose himself by consuming the personalities of others. But getting the medicine for him is not easy - the only Family that has the recipe suddenly disappears...
