A collection of essays that explores the cultural processes of Ukraine during the Independence era, their coherence with the progress of the civilized world. This is a panorama of Ukrainian projects abroad, collaborations with foreign colleagues, the contribution of our artists to international discussions, and new approaches emerging in Ukraine.
The title plays on the term “cognitive deoccupation” as overcoming Russian imperialism. For centuries, it has laid mines in both our consciousness and the perception of Ukraine in the world. The book works to deactivate these stereotypes. This is the vision of a critic who is on Ukrainian-centric positions, shares universal values, and opposes the inferiority complex in the domestic discourse. An analysis of the cultural component of the formation of Ukrainian statehood and sovereignty, and Ukraine’s contribution to the general decolonization dialogue.
