The Renaissance gave the world many talented people. Their names are forever inscribed in the "golden book" of this era. Among them is the outstanding English playwright, actor and poet William Shakespeare (1564–1616). The author of at least 17 comedies, 10 chronicles, 11 tragedies, five poems and a cycle of 154 sonnets. His works have been translated into many languages of the world, they are often staged. The comedy "A Midsummer Night's Dream" belongs to the early period of the writer's work. "Twelfth Night, or As You Like It" presents a Renaissance comedy of the 1590s. "The End Praises" and "Troil and Cressida" are written in a new manner not typical of early Shakespeare. In these plays, the comic is inseparable from the tragic. "The Tempest" introduces the reader to the features of tragicomedy - a tragedy with a happy ending. The "Folio" publishing house also published other works of V. Shakespeare: "Historical Chronicles", "Tragedies".
