"The Wife" is the second part of the trilogy "Christine, daughter of Lavrans" by the famous Norwegian writer Sigrid Unset. The three parts of the novel tell about the main periods in the life of the main character. The second book describes Christine's married life on the Gusabyu estate. Here she gives birth to seven sons, and her relationship with her beloved husband Erlend undergoes serious tests. In addition, the novel masterfully conveys the psychology of a person in the Middle Ages, the struggle of Christianity with pagan beliefs, and the glorious and tragic pages of the Norwegian past.
