Description

This book consists of fourteen stories of Crimean Tatar families, which were told to the author by different people, famous and unknown. They have common pain and a common memory of the horrors of war, persecution, deportation, and hunger. From generation to generation, they are pursued by the same enemy, no matter what new name he comes up with for himself every time: whether it is the Russian Empire, or the USSR, or the Russian Federation. The tortures he resorts to are supposed to tame the Crimean Tatars, and in case of disobedience, the inhumans simply destroy the already small people. As if in reality, the reader will see tortured teenagers picking cotton in the Hungry Steppe of Uzbekistan. The despair of a woman who is expelled from her native home. Grief of the wife of the fallen defender of Ukraine. But these families are united not only by common pain, but also by a common desire: to regain the Motherland, to live in a free Crimea.
