It was a funny story...
Daphne loved listening to her fiancé Peter tell their story. How they met (on a windy day), fell in love (with the help of a runaway hat), and moved to his hometown by the lake to start a family. He really told it beautifully... until he realized that he was actually in love with his childhood best friend, Petra.
And so Daphne begins her new story. Stuck in a strange city with no friends or family, but with a job she loves as a children's librarian, she offers to split the rent with the only person who can understand her situation - Miles Novak, Petra's ex.
Miles, outgoing and spontaneous, and prone to solace in wistful love ballads, is the complete opposite of the practical and reserved Daphne. The new roommates mostly avoid each other—until one day, drunk on grief, they strike up a tentative friendship and start something. And if their plan involves releasing knowingly misleading photos of their summer adventures together—who are we to judge?
Of course, it’s all about the human eye, because it’s impossible for Daphne to seriously start a new chapter by falling in love with her ex-fiancé’s new fiancé’s ex… Or is it?
