Qualityland is a satirical dystopian novel that mercilessly and wittily mocks the world of hyperconsumption, total digitalization, and algorithmic control. In the near future, in a country called Qualityland, everything works “perfectly” — thanks to artificial intelligence that knows what you need… even before you do.
The plot centers on Peter Bezdel (Peter Arbeitsloser), a former machine therapist who is unexpectedly sent an item by the system that he doesn’t want. In a world where purchases are not chosen — they are delivered by an algorithm — such a mistake becomes the beginning of a great digital crisis that opens deep cracks in the ideal system.
