KYIV by Sergiy Maidukov is a visual story of Kyiv told through Sergiy Maidukov's illustrations and sketches. The author is the protagonist who experiences the rush of the city and the ephemeral beauty of the mundane, captures the colours and the atmosphere of the streets. His meticulous work could be compared to that of a cinematographer in how he distances himself from the objects and situations while recreating them on his iPad. The visual narrative of the book follows from the stylistic and colour decisions in each and every illustration, which stand together in various connections.
This edition includes an introduction by journalist Oleksiy Tarasov as well as his interview with Sergiy Maidukov. The colour pictures in this book were created in the Procreate app on iPad and the black and white pictures are ballpoint and pencil drawings produced in the years 2018-2020.

Sergiy Maidukov is a Kyiv-based artist. He has been working as an illustrator since 2011. Maidukov collaborates with different foreign magazines and media such as The New Yorker, The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, and others. His clients are Google, Adobe, British Royal Dance Academy, Kyiv Central Department Store and other brands and corporations.
Maidukov illustrated several books. In particular, Executed Renaissance by Osnovy Publishing House and 2001: A Space Odyssey (2016) by Moppet Books. Several of his illustrations are in The Library of Congress (USA). Maidukov's works were featured by 3x3 Mag Magazine, AIGA The Eye on Design, and on The AOI's longlist. Since 2015, Maidukov has been curating regular illustration workshops. They are dedicated to various Ukrainian cities (Odessa, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv). Maidukov's illustrations were exhibited in Kyiv, Berlin, Hong Kong and Paris.
