Since 2014, we have been inviting you to travel through Ukraine. The non-tourist aesthetic publication LA BOUSSOLE (from the French "compass") collected stories about different regions of our country, about unique natural phenomena, and, above all, about the way to oneself through popular routes and information noise.
In 2022, after almost a year of full-scale war, we released the issue of "Childhood", which was a full-fledged collection of artistic and expert texts with beautiful photos and illustrations, united by a large-scale theme. Like a map, "Childhood" laid out the first and most important period in our life in four directions-chapters.
"When We Were Small" in the voices of blogger and HR in a large company Daria Sapova, mother of four children, fashion designer and cafe co-owner Alina Borodina, teacher and game practitioner Oleksandr Parklab, writer Olha Kotrus, poet, member of the Union of Journalists of Ukraine Olena Boryshpolets tells through the author's bright stories-memories are a childhood experience that is different for everyone in its own way, but in many plots it is recognizable and familiar.
"When We Became Adults" includes expert articles by psychotherapist and perinatal psychologist Yuliia Slobodianiuk, writer Olena Tkach, psychologist, and certified ICF coach Yuliia Svyrydenko, psychotherapist Iryna Makovetska, psychologist using the RPT method Natalia Kovalenko, on how to recognize childhood trauma in your behavior, how to move away from these often destructive scenarios and effective gradual self-help techniques where possible.
"When We Became Parents" reveals the different experiences of parenting by artist and teacher Masha Shyriaeva with practices of consciousness and grounding, how men and women experience the appearance of new children and the birth of new selves in the words of psychologist and physical therapist Slava Karpenko, reflections on the inevitable influence of one's own childhood experience on behavior in adult life from the writer Nina Dmytriieva, the reflection of the mindfulness coach Vira Hruzova on the constant choice of self or not-self in our own life and questions that any of us have.
"Childhood of Our Children" is a beautiful world of children's chatter and carefree existence, as if a window is open to a blooming spring garden or a warm summer sea, or a crisp winter morning, or a colorful autumn meadow. Sketches about how modern children live their childhood are collected here.
The period of childhood is simple, beautiful, and important. It holds the framework and forms the foundation of our values, preferences, outlook, and emotions. Injuries, unlived and incomprehensible until the end of the situation, dramatic events in the life of a child form a whole layer of plots that not only affect adult life but also at unexpected moments can change it, as it seems to us, uncontrollably.
Therefore, taking responsibility for one's behavior, actions, and the future, knowing and understanding what certain events from the past can lead to, and having methods or at least contacts of specialists who will provide professional and effective support on the way to an adult self is healthy in every sense an approach to one's conscious life.
