In the drama extravaganza "Forest Song", created in 1911, Lesya Ukrainka transfers the ancient myth of Orpheus to the Volyn forest, inhabited by characters from folk mythology. The relationship between Mavka and Lukash is a story of love, betrayal, redemption, the saving power of art and the cyclical rebirth of nature.
