The power of a brilliant artist is that his works never age. They awaken thought, arouse curiosity and excite the hearts of descendants. A work of art is a reflection of the ideas and searches of a particular era and at the same time the consequences of the future. The above entirely applies to the literary heritage of Olga Kobylyanska (1863–1942).
This edition contains the pearls of the writer's prose: the story "Man", the short stories "Uncultured", "Battle", "Ideas", prose poetry "My Lilies", etc. The reader will find in the book texts that, although they describe the society of the late 19th - first half of the 20th century, sound surprisingly modern, because they raise the issues of women's rights, the preservation of nature, indifference, war, the beautiful and the ugly. All this confused the people of that time no less than it does us in this bitter time. However, Olga Kobylyanska, thanks to her virtuoso mastery of artistic means, her ability to create impressionistically spirited verbal paintings, and her attention to detail, has presented the mentioned themes in artistically unsurpassed canvases. Olga Kobylyanska's manner is characterized by a romantic view of the world and, most importantly, an unfathomable love for man and nature. Her works are unique, full of humanity and energizing with life.
