In this book, Leonid Ushkalov presents a biography of the Ukrainian philosopher and theologian Hryhorii Skovoroda (1722–1794) based on rich source material. However, this is not only the biography of an outstanding person - here, a vivid image of Ukraine of the 18th century appears.
The eleven chapters of the book, in which Skovoroda's life is depicted, are framed by two separate plots - Prelude and Finale- designed to give Skovoroda's biography as much depth as possible, as well as to show his primary role in the Ukrainian spiritual tradition.
